As tradition has it, on the first Friday of each December, Noel Night marks the official kick off to the holiday season in Norwood. Wrangle up your family and your friends, and join in the holiday spirit in beautiful downtown Norwood on Friday, December 3, 2021!
Bring the kiddos to see Santa and Mrs. Clause. Embrace the holiday spirit by listening to carolers and sipping on hot cocoa provided by the Uncompahgre Medical Center. Cheer on your favorite float during the Parade of Lights. Enjoy local arts, crafts and holiday gift shopping. Vote for your favorite chili during the Norwood Fire Department Chili Cook-Off. Go for a hay bale ride around town, and don’t forget to snag some cookies to decorate at the Lone Cone Library after the parade.
Santa and Fire Engine Rides
As the children of Wright’s Mesa have come to depend over the years, beginning at 3:30 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Clause will once again be making a special appearance on the patio of The Divide Restaurant to take Christmas wishes and special requests.
At the same time, revving up excitement for the holiday season, the Norwood Fire Department will be offering up Fire Engine Rides for kids, taking off from The Divide Restaurant starting at 3:30 p.m.
Holiday Shopping
Support Norwood’s local businesses and restaurants by shopping local this holiday season! Head out on Noel Night to enjoy a delicious meal and some holiday gift shopping.
Be sure to check out the Holiday Pop-Up Shop at the Community Center in Town Hall, starting at 4:00 p.m. on Noel Night. The Holiday Pop-Up Shop will run through the weekend, on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m.
And don’t miss the Holiday Bazaar at The Livery, featuring hot cider and arts, crafts and gifts from local artists and creators. The Holiday Bazaar will run from 4:00 p.m. till 8 p.m. on Noel Night, and all day Saturday.
The Norwood Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a drawing for a chance to win a $100 gift card to Clark’s Market. Enter the drawing at any of the participating businesses and venues around town from noon until they close on Noel Night. To enter, simply make a purchase, put your name and phone number on a piece of paper provided by the merchant and place it in the decorated jar. One lucky winner will be drawn on Noel Night once all is said and done.
The chamber encourages businesses to participate in Noel Night by staying open later than usual and offering promos, sales and/or grab-bag discounts for patrons.
The chamber also encourages businesses to get into the holiday spirit by participating in the Holiday Decorating Contest. Judging will take place on Noel Night and the winning business will be announced on social media.
Chili, Anyone?
Warm up with a bowl of hot chili! Beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Pocket Park, the Norwood Fire Protection District will host a Noel Night Chili Cook-Off, featuring home-made, hand crafted chili crafted by amateur and professional chefs alike. Tasting is free, vote for your favorite chili!
Hay Bale Rides
Don’t feel like walking from place to place? Kicking off from Pocket Park, from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Snyder Ranches will be offering hay bale rides around the town of Norwood with stops and various destinations and venues around town. Donations for hay bale rides are welcome!
Parade of Lights
Take part in the brightest parade of the year! Dust off those strings of holiday lights and don’t forget to check the bulbs. The Norwood Chamber of Commerce invites businesses, nonprofits, groups and residents from Wright’s Mesa, Redvale, Nucla, Naturita and the surrounding region to participate in the annual Parade of Lights, beginning at 6:15 p.m. on Grand Avenue. Parade registration and lineup will start at 5:45 at Town Hall.
Cookie Decorating
Looking for more holiday fun for the entire family after the parade? Head over to the Lone Cone Library from 6:30 pm till 8:30 p.m. for cookie decorating! Bring your own cookies, or snag a cookie from the library. One cookie will be provided by the library, with additional cookies available with donation to the library’s programs.
