86th Annual Pioneer Day Celebration

Norwood’s 86th Annual Pioneer Day Celebration on September 24, 2022 honors the homesteading heritage of Wright’s Mesa and long-term local residents with a parade, chuck wagon meal and old-fashioned kids games.

The day kicks off with the coronation of the Pioneer Day Queen on Grand Avenue at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Pioneer Day Parade at 11 a.m. The parade travels west down Grand Avenue before turning around and heading back east, giving spectators another look. Anyone interested in participating are encouraged to preregister for the parade. The chuck wagon meal for the community is served at the Norwood School at Noon. Street games for families and kids will follow the Chuck Wagon at 1:30 p.m.

Finishing out the day will be a performance by Norwood resident, Americana singer-songwriter and guitarist, and winner of the 2020 John Lennon Songwriting Contest, B Forrest, hosted by Norwood Park and Recreation District at The Livery at 6:00 p.m. Visit NPRD’s website for more info!

Pioneer Day Events Schedule

Parade: 11:00 a.m.
Parade Signup/Lineup: 10:15 am at Norwood Community Center.
Pre-register at the Town Hall with Amanda or Patti.

Chuck Wagon Dinner: Noon
Norwood Public School all purpose room, featuring BBQ brisket and all the fixings, provided by the Norwood FFA.

 

Street Games: 1:30 p.m.
Norwood Public School football field
