For many of Norwood’s residents, cash flow may be tighter than normal due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that doesn’t mean folks should have to sacrifice healthy eating and strong immune systems for lower quality food. Residents of Wright’s Mesa no longer have to make the hour-long “Montrose run” to stock up on healthy food items because access to healthy food is more convenient than ever. With the abundance of locally grown meat and produce in the area, local farmer’s markets, and local grocery stores providing more healthy food options, Norwood is seeing more locally grown, fresh and organic grocery items hitting the shelves than ever before!
Clark’s Market’s new organic options
If you’ve been into Norwood’s local grocery store, Clark’s Market lately, you might have noticed a few changes, including a fresh new look inside and updates to the refrigerated sections. In addition, Clark’s has been working around the clock during the pandemic to provide its customers more fresh, organic and non GMO food options.
Clark’s Market’s new refrigerated produce section now features areas dedicated to organic produce. Meander down the aisle and you’ll find even more organic goods in the dairy section as well. Moving throughout each aisle within the store, you’ll find more and more organic on and non-GMO food items popping up. Everything from salad dressings and mayonnaise, olive, avocado oil and coconut oil, to canned produce and soup, coffee, cereal, rice and noodles, cookies, crackers, dessert items and even household goods such as toilet paper, paper towels and laundry detergent.
The FRESH Food Hub’s online ordering
Norwood’s FRESH Food Hub has become known as the go-to around the region for locally grown, fresh and organic meat and produce. Due to local and state regulations and to protect its volunteers, The Hub decided to close its doors during the COVID-19 pandemic. But being a strong, resilient and dedicated Norwood business, that didn’t stop the FRESH Food Hub from providing its customers and Norwood’s community with fresh produce and healthy grocery items.
The FRESH Food Hub took to the internet and opened up an online ordering system in which customers could order their list for the week and pick it up from The Hub. In fact, the program was so successful, The Norwood Post reported the FRESH Food Hub had seen a 400% growth in sales during the first months of the pandemic. Click here to check out the article!
